Icebreaker Aurora Australis was built in 1989 in NSW. Hobart is its main port, spending winters here unless is needed in the waters. There are 24 crew members and Aurora Australis can carry 116 passengers. It is equipped in various laboratories able to function while during the cruise. There is a helipad to accommodate four helicopters. Icebreaker is currently in Hobart's port so I went to see it.
