There's no rain or wind today, so our little Mountain dominates the skyline from almost everywhere in Taranaki, which makes me so happy that I could easily hit a passing stranger 'round the back of the head with a cast iron frying pan (mostly to hear the satisfying "thwoingggg" sound. That they apparently make).
This was taken about 20 minutes from home, at a place called Tataraimaka. The most interesting thing about Tataraimaka is trying to say Tataraimaka.
I am a confirmed and certifiable nutbar with a penchant for skulls, bones, blood, guts, fire and anything slightly peculiar and mostly bizarre. I also...
@vignouse Thank you very much - we also have an uninterrupted view of the other side of this hill from our house. It makes me physically sick almost every day, especially as we're only 5 minutes from the sea in the other direction :(
It's the pressed metal non stick variety that makes the thwoingggg sound, the cast iron frying pan makes more of a solid thunkkkk ( I speak from years of married life experience ). But I digress, this is a most beautiful view, just love the little cloud hovering over the snow capped mountain :-)
So beautiful! I wanna go there. I'm so tire of seeing building. Some nature and mountain will be great. The landscape is awesome and you picture is perfect. It's a f****ing great shot. Instant FAV!
@hermann I'm not using one of our good pans, so I'll have to take your word for it and settle for a thunkkkk rather than a thwoingggg :)) Thanks very much as well, appreciated (for the comments and the frying pan advice) @firefly8642 Thanks very much, and for the follow :)
@graemestevens I like to grab the microphone at the service counter and yell "Price check on the large condoms with the knobbly bits.....oh in blue glitter please"
@golftragic Thanks very much indeed - from what I hear we may be making a trip up the hill this weekend, always weather dependant. If you can't see the mountain it's raining, if you can see it. it's going to rain...
You are completely spoilt in you surroundings and we are all SO jealous. Love the dark foreground that makes your eye search but does not distract from the unpronounceable mountain top.
@harbie thanks very much indeed @ukandie1 thanks very much - appreciated @creativefool thank you kind lady @dibzgreasley thanks very much @jess1204 thanks, reasonably lucky alright... @chippy1402 thanks, much appreciated @tracelee thank you - I'm looking at it again right now! @lleo thanks, it's horrible living in NZ, everywhere you look there's scenery :( @spanner thanks - couldn't agree more, it's horrible. @peter_1966 there is a small ski field on the other side @andy3168 thanks very much @livvy thank you, always appreciated
This is simply breath-taking. One day I will go to conquered it without being smacked by the cast iron frying pan. My word for today is definitely Tataraimaka.
