Today marks my 20th Wedding Anniversary. In a bizarre twist of fate and coincidence it also marks my lovely wife's 20th Wedding Anniversary.
Kim and I met when I was 16 and she certainly wasn't, and her first sight of me was as I chased a train waving a banana in the air in what can only be called a manic fashion.
From that moment to this she has been kind, tolerant, understanding and has mastered the ability to cope with all my peculiarities, oddities, foibles, mood swings, cursing, fantastical ideas and twisted sense of humour without batting an eyelid.
She is the light at the end of my tunnel...and my favourite oncoming train.
I am a confirmed and certifiable nutbar with a penchant for skulls, bones, blood, guts, fire and anything slightly peculiar and mostly bizarre. I also...
Beautiful and creepy...now put some money in the therapy jar. Oh and congrats. In Dec, my hubby and I will be together for 20 years. Not marriage anniversary but when we started dating.
Lovely words and congratulations. My husband and I moved in together Oct 18, 1982 and just celebrated our anniversary. In May we had our "public anniversary" 30 years since we made it legal but this one has always felt more real to us
Happy anniversary. 20 years is a really fantastic effort. It certainly is convenient that you have your anniversary on the same day. It's the similar situation with my brothers twin girls who have their birthday on the same day.
Awesome photo too :)
@karlow75 Thanks very much - my lovely wife is also a twin so she's doubly convenient... @annied Thank you most kindly good lady @brigette Thanks very much - every word is the truth ;)
Warmest congratulations on 20 years of wedded bliss! Many couples fail to reach this milestone. You two must have a lot going for you! Best wishes for 20 more! Oh yeah, creepy shot, Graeme. And, I like how the wedding ring figures prominently into it. ;)
Congratulations to you and Kim, I just celebrated my 25th! On my own while she was on holiday in Scotland :) You certainly have your own style happening now, I knew this was yours immediately!
@juliedduncan I can't help being fabulous! @tammyputney Thanks very much :) @ukandie1 Thank you very much :) @tomtom I'd like a holiday in Scotland...only been there 3 times and it never seems enough. I wonder if Kim would mind...and thanks veyr much :)
Oh, I just really enjoy the narrative and images here... lovely. Enjoy your anniversary and all the days to come. Your last sentence is the best, to match your image. It has me laughing. Wonderful.
May there be light at the end of your tunnel, and be it your favorite oncoming train, for decades to come. Many happy returns on the day for both you and Kim. Wine seems a very fine beginning to the end of your special day.
ah...and I like the shot. A real celebration coming from you. ;)
Such beautiful words! Interesting, Monday, October 27th is my and coincidentally, my husbands 7th wedding anniversary. We met when we were 19, although, no trains were involved, only a go-cart, a tree and ambulance, but I digress... Congrats! Love the coagulated blood thing you've got going on here!
@eyeamlisa Thank you very much - I'm intrigued by how you met as it sounds much more fun than trains and bananas! @888rachel Thank you very much indeed ;) @voiceprintz Thanks very much - quite happy shot for me I thought...and wine is always a good beginning :) @rosiekerr I'm pleased to have delivered a laugh :) And thank you very much, very much appreciated :)
@greamestevens to make a long story short, we were in a go-cart with no windshield or seat belts, hit a tree, where I promptly fly through the front, narrowly escaping a face plant into a tree. My husband unfortunately had a piece of dashboard puncture his knee, shattering it. He fell out and was lying on the sidewalk pulsating blood out of his knee. I ran to get help, and an ambulance was called. I lucked out with only several stitches in my leg. My husband had to have surgery and screws placed in his knee. He was on crutches for the first 3 months of his freshman year of college. The rest is history.
Happy anniversary to you both -what are the odds indeed ;-) It´s a very fitting shot ( a rose) for the day as well to your style (everything else). I like it a lot, it´s effective and moody. The blood looks a bit too thick maybe?
Thanks for sharing your story, wow 20 years is an achievement, well done and congrats to you both. Love that your wedding ring is part of the the shot.
I really like this... with any kind of 'art' I enjoy that I get to create my own interpretation... reality from it... I'm in Awe of your 20 years of marriage... Here's to many more.. Keep Squeezing !
@orangecrush Thank you very much :) @tonygig Thanks very much, appreciated as always @jaynspain Thank you...and does a raised eyebrow count as "yes, I like that"? @susale Thank you very much and duly noted - that would be why I wasn't too sure about it as a shot! Thanks again :) @dibzgreasley Thanks very much :) @golftragic I know, I'm such a hard arsed ruffian... @aecasey Thank you very much, too kind :) @kimkyra Quite possibly, but only when you're done with them...as for romance being dead, see me in my boudoir immediately!
@kimkyra Congrats to you both. 20 years together takes effort, energy, love, commitment and hard work. Not just all the slusshy puppy dog love stuff. Well done and here's to many more years together for you. The image.....first I went a flower....then went bloody stuff....then read comments. Its a great Graeme Stevens image.
@golftragic I just like to say 'ruffian' @newbank Thanks very much...but...ummm...puppy dog love? Ooo er missus ;) @andrewkru Thank you very much, appreciated
Wonderful shot, and congratulations on 20 years of marriage!! Frankly, I prefer this to a dozen red roses! I don't know what coagulated blood they are talking about, though....that looked like two rats meeting at your knuckles, but it might just be my eyesight!
@graemestevens Tomato sauce came in handy! Cool capture - poor Kim having to put up with you! Well done on 20 years of togetherness! She must love your perverse sense of humour to stick around for that long - orrrr, do you tie her up to keep her there?!?!?! ;)
@pinkpaintpot Thank you - I don't know why we have the stuff to be honest, there are so many other, better sauces to be had! @kali66 It is a wonderful thing to have a Kim :) @lynnilou It's the only thing tomato sauce is good for...and yes, I have been known to tie her up ;) @blueberry1222 Ditto ;) @denisefuller Thanks very much :)
@janiskay Thanks veyr much - I think she stays for my money ;) @livvy That's one way of looking at it, and thanks very much @bill_fe Thanks very much :) @jocasta Thank you very much, appreciated
@graemestevens totally agree, but obviously useful in some cases but no I could not even bring myself to spread it on my hand, cant stand the smell. Might be because my other half eats my share and half of Lancashires too
Brilliant shot, Graeme and excellent narrative. What are the chances...you both celebrating 20 years of marriage on the same day!!! You are clearly made for each other. Big congrats to you both ;-)
@homeschoolmom Thanks very much :) @ceilidh Thank you kindly :) @andy3168 Thank you very much :) @janiskay Just as well she's loaded then ;) @ingrid2101 Thank you very much, much appreciated @pinkpaintpot I'd rather have wasabi shoved up my nose ;) @davie Thank you very much indeed :) @gigiflower Thanks very much - at least you're not vomiting in your mouth
@northy A person on the train was hungry and I happened to have a banana on my person so being a true gentleman I was willing to sacrifice my lunch. Alas the train pulled away and the banana was never delivered. You're the first person to ask...
Happy belated anniversary - your wife sounds like a true gem and once again your commentary is nothing short of entertaining. And of course I must comment on your picture - very creative and so you! I wish there were an easier way of stalking .. er I mean following certain people on here other than scrolling through your friends cause you would certainly be one I would click on on a daily basis - ah yeah, I'm not creepy or anything .... are those curtains of yours new?
@not_left_handed Thank you very much - I'm used to being stalked, for various reasons, so go ahead and help yourself ;) I'd just make one request - could you please stop crushing the flowers outside the bedroom window?
@pandorasecho Thank you and straight back at ya!
Awesome photo too :)
@annied Thank you most kindly good lady
