Still Standing by graemestevens

Still Standing

It's Saturday here - that means that I'm not working. I hadn't noticed that fact though as I have had two work call-outs this morning and am far from being in a state of relaxation. Added to this is the fact that in approximately 2 hours we have a gaggle of 14 year old girls descending on the house, all of whom are staying over for the night, I am yet to walk the dogs, do the housework, have lunch (or breakfast) and have not even managed to get close to the shower. So, like this chimney I look like a derelict wreck but I am at least still upright. Erect if you will, but slightly crumbly and worn around the edges.
So situation normal you are telling us as in your description? Fabulous photo and I really love your editing her. Between you Sam and Northy I am finding that I want to try some b&w myself and may have to give it a go.

Nice B&W! Great texture!

@lwain Very much situation normal...sadly. I love B&W, although colour never hurts every now and then ;)
January 16th, 2015
@kwind Thanks very much :)

This is so cool.I love the abandoned .This looks like a derilict Stone Henge.
January 17th, 2015
@mzzhope It does a bit, and thank you very much :)
January 17th, 2015
Graeme, you are always surprising me! 14 year olds for a slumber party? Nice smoke stack, creepy a bit as I always think of concentration camps when I see these.
January 17th, 2015
the burden of technology - being on call.
January 17th, 2015
@trinda It wasn't my idea!!! I'm going to have to escape for the night I think!
@brigette I detest it, but it's my turn this weekend :(
January 17th, 2015
Awesome shot. I am contemplating sneaking into a building like this to get some shots.
Good luck with the gaggle too. I was lucky enough to survive my kids sleepover.
January 17th, 2015
Oh, stop complaining you old fraud... you're in your element. And you posted a nice piccie - sounds like a great start to an amazing weekend.
January 17th, 2015
@karlow75 Thanks very much - I find if you carry clip board everyone thinks you should be there
@vignouse I have to complain...I'm a bit of a Victor Meldrew ;)
January 17th, 2015
January 17th, 2015
@vignouse It may have been an understatement...
January 17th, 2015
Such a sad state! Look on the bright side - you are alive and well.
January 17th, 2015
@eyeamlisa I'm sure I'll survive the evening!
January 17th, 2015
Great photo, good luck with the sleepover. Bryan hides in the den and doesn't come out until they are all gone.
January 17th, 2015
@kt8ird I'll need all the luck I can get. I'm currently hiding in my bedroom
January 17th, 2015
@graemestevens ah yes, and maybe a high vis vest. Thanks for the tip :)
January 17th, 2015
Excellent details and contrasts on this shot. You will survive, but it will not be the last. :) The joys of parenthood.
January 17th, 2015
Good luck with that sleepover--better you than me! >-)
January 17th, 2015
Neat shot - sounds like a great weekend for you!
January 17th, 2015
Sam
@lwain @graemestevens Oh you must try B&W Lindy..........PLEASE!! I won't feel so "alone" then ;) C'mon, join me in doing it once per week!!!
January 17th, 2015
Sam
I think if you post a photo of yourself - "derelict wreck but I am at least still upright. Erect if you will, but slightly crumbly and worn around the edges"...........that would be MOST rewarding for us all to see :)
January 17th, 2015
@vignouse victor meldrew. Oh my you SO are. The most perfect description for you.
January 17th, 2015
@gigiflower indeed ;)
January 17th, 2015
We are yet to be sleepover stage but I may need to borrow that gas mask when we do to cope with all the excess Lynx there would be being sprayed about.....
January 17th, 2015
Hope you have a man cave to hide in! Believe you me you may need it, their talk could go on llllaaaatttteee!
January 17th, 2015
Great B&W image, very nice :)
January 17th, 2015
i like crumbly and worn around the edges - :)
January 17th, 2015
lovely relic... have fun with the gaggle... what's the occasion?
January 17th, 2015
And I am guessing after the gaggle departs the next photo will be of a building crumbled to the ground in ruins? You are a brave brave man to have a gaggle of 14 year old girls overnight - I do hope you still have plenty of wine - nice shot.
January 17th, 2015
Great shot.
January 17th, 2015
This is fabulous!!
January 17th, 2015
Excellent b+w
January 17th, 2015
The chimney's are the last to fall down - hopefully not on Victor Meldrew! It would make his day, though! I can't imagine all those 14yrs olds being quiet - they will all have their phones though!
January 17th, 2015
@rosiekerr Thanks you - it's not the first either. Why do we keep letting it happen!
@aikiuser Thanks...we escaped the house for a while
@dide Thanks - so far it's been just spiffing ;)
@gigiflower That's never going to happen...public forum and all that ;)
@newbank it is quite fitting ;) I'll still be using the mask for all the perfume!
@ceilidh Absolutely - I seem to spend a lot of time out there
@hermann Thanks very much :)
@annied Good...it's all I've got
@northy Thanks - no occasion, it's just because they can and we're the "cool but slightly peculiar" parents
@deak68 Very brave indeed, plenty of wine...always ;)
@tonygig Thank you kindly
@nicoleterheide Thanks very much :)
@andy3168 Thank you kind sir
@maggiemae They all came fully equipped with phones and iPads...they're all plugged in to the matrix
January 17th, 2015
@graemestevens look on the bright side... at least you know where she is!
January 17th, 2015
@northy That is a definite bright side although it does mean that I don't have to load the shotgun...always disappointing!
January 17th, 2015
@graemestevens oh i dunno... with a gaggle of teenage girls under your roof, i think you should be on the look out for young ne-er-do-wells who may come knocking on the door... the shotgun may be required after all!
January 17th, 2015
@northy Answering to door wearing a gimp suit and gas mask always seems to scare them off...
January 17th, 2015
@graemestevens hope you survived the gaggle
January 17th, 2015
@annied Survived them by going out ;)
January 18th, 2015
@graemestevens that works hahahahahahahaha - and the house was still standing upon return? LOL
January 18th, 2015
@annied Most of it was, but when they cleaned up all of it was
January 18th, 2015
January 18th, 2015
Sounds like a perfect description for both you and the chimney.
January 18th, 2015
@bill_fe It seems to fit :)
January 18th, 2015
Sounds to me like a pretty normal day for you Graeme, lots of chaos.
January 19th, 2015
@graemestevens Forgot to say I love that gritty shot, it's a beauty.
January 19th, 2015
@golftragic Chaotic days are my best days....and thank you
January 19th, 2015
Love the great B & W shot and your description is great too :)
January 20th, 2015
