The Groin by graemestevens

The Groin

Before you go looking for genitalia in this shot, The Groin is man made structure at Waiwakaiho Beach designed to break the surf, so you will not find any protuberances of a male nature, nor any evidence of rogue lady gardens here. There is a lonely sea gull though, so all is well.
phew, thats ok then...

Glad you cleared any confusion up. Super shot!

Reminds me of the park in Christchurch that is amusingly called "The Groynes" Spelt differently but said the same. Nice desolate look!
May 6th, 2015
@maggiemae There are some amusing place names around...and thank you kindly :)

More fabulous and ominous clouds and THANK YOU for the explanation :)

Another cracker Graeme - might be worth visiting the Lens Correction panel in LR... I'm sure that the Auto function would straighten that horizon in a jiffy.
May 6th, 2015
@hermann You're more than welcome - I would be mortified if there was any misunderstanding! ;)
@vignouse Thanks very much - I often debate with myself over the lens correction but sometimes...well, sometimes I like a bit of bendy curviness ;)
May 7th, 2015
I like the curved horizon.
May 7th, 2015
@juliedduncan Thank you kindly :)
May 7th, 2015
Lovely brooding shot with super textures in the sky.
May 7th, 2015
@rosiekerr Thank you very much :)

makes the sea look like it is cupped in mother earth's hand :)
I think you mean groyne as you are not in the US!....'A groyne (groin in the United States) is a rigid hydraulic structure built from an ocean shore (in coastal engineering) or from a bank (in rivers) that interrupts water flow and limits the movement of sediment.

@kali66 That's the very one, but in true Taranaki style (and even on the signposts up here) it's definitely Groin...makes it funnier too, the tourists come from miles around...

rogue lady garden - I am LOL
May 7th, 2015
@annied There are days when I refuse to restrain myself
May 7th, 2015
Darn, I should have read the description first!
May 7th, 2015
@kt8ird Somewhat disturbingly, this is one of the local beaches where a genuine groin can be seen so please don't feel like you've wasted your time ;)
May 7th, 2015
@graemestevens and I thank the stars for them - it would be no fun without them!
great sky and I love the curve - I love things when they are slightly askew
May 7th, 2015
@annied Thank you kindly - I do like a bit of curve, hoping to find good location in amongst these landscapes for the shot that I really have in mind.
May 7th, 2015
@graemestevens I look forward to it :)
May 7th, 2015
At first I thought it was a typo! LOL! Beautiful view!
May 7th, 2015
@homeschoolmom Nope, we're just weird in this part of the world, and thanks very much :)
May 7th, 2015
I honestly love reading your photo captions
May 7th, 2015
@morganmontgomeryphoto Thanks very much - I have to do something to keep me amused ;)

Sue
I love the brooding sky, and I really love your explanation. The curvy horizon works well I think!
May 7th, 2015
@sioux Thanks very much - I just wanted everyone to be clear... ;)
May 7th, 2015
That is some view. Well captured.
May 7th, 2015
@spanner Thanks - just looking for suitably deserted locations for a shot I have in mind
May 7th, 2015
All that money we spend on quality lenses to avoid distortion yet I just love that concave curvature! If you turn the lens upside down maybe it will be convex! :-)
May 7th, 2015
@yrhenwr Depending on the weather my next shot will be done in a handstand ;)
May 7th, 2015
Sam
I'm not sure I'm coping with your landscape photos. That is all.
May 7th, 2015
Shame, I was hoping for a groin! Haha. Excellent landscape!
May 7th, 2015
I wondered for a moment if I had misread that in a Freudian-type way. Still, good to know Freud's staying out of my thoughts!
May 7th, 2015
Oh, moody, nice one!
May 7th, 2015
Lucky this isn't near the American town of Climax, or Intercourse for that matter.
May 7th, 2015
Very dark, moody shot. Nice one, Graham!
May 7th, 2015
super moody sky. I was disappointed by the missing garden stuff.
May 7th, 2015
@gigiflower I have a shot in mind but I'm actually looking for the right location...just be patient...
@888rachel Be very careful for what you wish for, you know I love a challenge...
@anthonyt That is good to know...sadly he's never far from mine...
@overalvandaan Thank you kindly :)
@karlow75 That would be far too perfect and my luck doesn't run that way ;)
@susanalena Thanks very much indeed :)
@bill_fe So was I and believe, I was looking very closely
May 7th, 2015
Great shot----btw, what's a genitalia??-hA!:)
May 7th, 2015
@joemuli I knew someone would ask sooner or later...you know...things and sticky out bits and inny bits and stuff... ;)
