There wasn't meant to be a story behind this shot. It was just meant to be a shot...then I spied the plaque on this pump house that someone had helpfully installed for intrepid travellers such as myself. Said plaque stated that this now defunct pump house had a new pump and associated pipework installed and commissioned on 4th September 1970. This was most distressing to my delicate sensibilities as that is also the precise day on which, at high speed and with no recovery time, I was forcibly ejected from my mothers womb.
Luckily, my pipework is in far better condition than this and there is certainly nothing defunct about my pump house.

gritty B&W suits the shot ( suits you sir). I imagine there was a Gritty B&W cast to the world on 4/9/70, actually I remember there was and a bolt of light shot across the sky, I remember a lot of chickens dying from fright,
