Whanganui & Ruapehu by graemestevens

Whanganui & Ruapehu

Below is the Whanganui River and the country that it travels through on it's way to the sea - off in the distance is Mount Ruapehu. The road I drove today hugs the river as it makes it's way through all these valleys and is often closed due to flooding, slips and poor maintenance...but today it was open which is just as well as I had a client to meet out in the middle of nowhere.
Best on black I suspect.
Wonderful view, especially on black!

Goodness you are so high! This is just wonderful to see the hillsides and the trees in a light B&W.

@maggiemae It's very high, and then it goes all the way down...
@kwind Thanks very much :)

Fantastic in b&w, shows off all the topography so well. To my eye this vista is typically NZ. Love it, and can't wait to get across the ditch again. Fav for me.

Great light to show off the shapes of the landscape.

@dibzgreasley Thanks very much - you can blame 8.30am for that

The black & white really shows off the undulations of the NZ terrain so well. All the trees in their different shapes & then the Whanganui threading its way through.....so typical of NZ but a completely alternative take on it.

@happypat Thanks very much - There's not a lot of 'flat' over here but theres nothing wrong with a good undulation ;)

It does appear to be in the middle of nowhere.

Unusual b&w shot but I think it works very well.

What a lumpy and pointy landscape! Great pov. Love the processing. Fav for climbing all the way up there (so don't tell me you were in a balloon!)
January 23rd, 2016
@yrhenwr We seem to have our fair share of lumps and points over here...and sadly, the only only thing I climbed was out of the car...
