We spent yesterday making final preparations for a farewell to the father in law, going through photos and reminiscing, not to mention having quite a few laughs. This man has taken a space in the last 30+ years of my life and will be missed by all of us...but I think he could have been trouble at more than one point in his 86 years.
I am a confirmed and certifiable nutbar with a penchant for skulls, bones, blood, guts, fire and anything slightly peculiar and mostly bizarre. I also...
He looks a character, just laid my mum to rest not sure she was trouble, but she certainly pushed the expected boundaries, so I find myself connecting with this post!
@overalvandaan The family is of Scandinavian descent. There were 5 brothers and their respective families who came to New Zealand and settled in the 1800's.
Troublemaker for sure, he looks like fun and this makes it easy for us to see how you got along with him so well! It's good to have a few laughs in this type of occasion. He'd have preferred that no doubt.
I hope my passing generates as much emotion and fine tributes... then I will know that I too was loved for myself. Treasure the memories both of you...
He reminds me of my favorite uncle. He had that look, and loved his dog also. And certainly had a colorful life. really miss him too. It's sad to say goodbye.
Love these old photographs. Was he Norwegian or Danish, his surname sounds Scandinavian.
Thank you all very much (again) and sorry (again) for the "bulk" reply. Normal service will be resumed shortly.
