Births by grammyn

Births

From the Family Record of my grandfather's Bible on my mother's side. The top one was his father I believe and the next to the last one was my grandpa. For the mundane book challenge and the monthly theme of nostalgia
wonderful memories

Don't you wonder who will treasure these when we are gone. I have one son that probably will and one that would pitch it. I love this

That is so touching. I tell the students about how the Bibles were the way they kept track of all their important life events. This all seems to be in the same hand...not like someone wrote it as each event was happening and the writer was changing to someone else each time. Oh, nope The top entries are alike and the then the bottom two are...I love history and nostalgia like this. I posted a whole album on FB today of pics of my neighbor across the street at the lake's dad's High school "handbook" from 1919. Wow. That was some interesting stuff. I wish you were on FB and could see it.

@cdonohoue Oh, Cathy. thanks for the FAV! I do wonder sometimes what will become of our treasures when we are gone!

@espyetta Thanks, MB.. The top entries were written by one person and the bottom three were by either my grandpa or his wife. I recognize the writing but can't remember if it was hers or his. That makes it even more special to me. Feel free to show this to your class if it will help with that lesson.

I'm with MaryBeth when it comes to such beautiful treasures...how lucky you are to have such a record. My mum and I recently entertained ourselves by trying to connect the names on family headstones in the churchyard at home....wish they added more info!!

@ruthmouch Thanks Ruth. there are some advantages to being a bit of a pack rat I guess. It is interesting to try and trace our heritage when possible.
