Back To Basics

A large porch, a rocking chair and a cup of iced tea is the recipe for a relaxing summer evening
Vee
Nicely done! I'm getting a driver's tour through your area! It's nice that the porch is perfectly framed!

September 8th, 2013
Yes it is! Nice shot.

Sounds like my cup of (iced) tea. I see these beautiful white porches in films, it is lovely however to be up close and personal. Fav, because I am a huge porch fan (although where I come from they are called verandas).
September 8th, 2013
@digitalrn I thought so too, Rick. Let me know when you will be here! ;~}
September 8th, 2013

September 8th, 2013
@silverlight Let me know when to expect you! ;~} Thanks so much for the FAV, Cheryl. Some people here call them verandas as well .

Okay, this one is awesome, and reminds me of the book by Mary D Hahn... @catwoman2 . It is called TIme for Andrew, and I have just started reading it aloud to a new 4th grade class. I have three kids who are siblings to students last year. They said "When are you going to start Time for Andrew?!" haha Their siblings say it is a must read. There is an old house in it, Katy...and the boy from modern day transports back to the house, but years and years before....it is such a cools story. At times, when he is "back in the past" he can see a glimmer/shimmer of the house in the current day....He gets to know his family members of that time,almost thinks he will never get back to his era, but in the end, he does. But guess who shows up? His young friends/family from the old days..they are in their 80s or 90s. This pic you did reminds me of all of that.

A very nice scene seen like this! Brings the thought of families on this verandah!
September 8th, 2013
Sounds perfect! Love the idea of side-mirror photography!
September 8th, 2013
What a great house! Green shutters and white rockers! @espyetta sounds like a good book. Gage has been adamant about not wanting to be read to, but I think I've lured him in with the BFG! Yay!
September 8th, 2013
@espyetta Wow! thank you so much! I am honored to be able to remind you of it. Feel free to use it in class if you wish!
September 9th, 2013
@maggiemae Thanks, Maggiemae. It leaves the family scene to your imagination so it can be whatever the viewer wants it to be.
September 9th, 2013
@kwiksilver Tha is so nice of you to say, Gillian. l am really happy you like it!
September 9th, 2013
@m9f9l Thanks, Mary. just a little bit of Southern charm for you!
September 9th, 2013
I have a porch like this... come on over
September 9th, 2013
@lesip Don't say it twice I might show up! ;~}
September 9th, 2013
@grammyn you are welcome any time...
September 9th, 2013
Meg
ahh you are so right....love the pov
September 9th, 2013
@lesip ;~}
September 9th, 2013
@m9f9l He might like Time for Andrew, but you have to get through about 4 chapters before it gets good. I love BFG and anything Dahl!
September 9th, 2013
@m9f9l My boys like those made for kids classic books...Around the world in 80 Days, 20,000 Leagues Under the sea, the Invisible Man..they even have a kiddie version of Picture of Dorian Gray..of all things. My girls like all those classic books too, come to think of it.

Fantastic capture. Love it. I have always loved a nice porch with a rocking chair. Last night we went to the movies to see "The Ultimate Life", and there was a scene in a porch just like this one, with the guy sitting in a similar rocking chair :) --BTW, great movie.
September 9th, 2013
@anazad511 Thanks, Ana. it does look inviting doesn't it? Maybe they made the movie here! ;~}

I really like this one a lot. Love a beautiful home with a front porch like this one. What is really cool about all of this series is that what is behind your side mirror works so well. It is pretty plain which makes one focus on your mirror and creates such fabulous shots. FAV Did that make sense?
September 11th, 2013
@darsphotos Thanks Darlene. That made perfect sense to me and it was something I had to be very aware of as I was shooting. I did manipulate a couple of the backgrounds to help delete some distracting objects that I couldn't shoot around. I just saw the FAV! Thanks! ;~}
September 11th, 2013
@grammyn You are welcome Katy. My attempts at photos like this had that background stuff that would not make for a good photo. Do you have a way to get rid of the background or just waited for shots that were clear in the background?
September 11th, 2013
@darsphotos I use cloning and paint to alter unsatisfactory backgrounds that couldn't be avoided
September 11th, 2013
@grammyn Where do you find cloning and paint?
September 11th, 2013
@darsphotos Cloning is in pickmoney, ipiccy and many other processing programs. Paint is in several different ones as well. I use it in windows photo viewer.
