Here is why this is a miracle shot! After church Sunday l set my camera on a table outside while I did a quick sweep up of the porch. I went inside to change clothes for some more yard work and then started helping my husband. Later in the evening I went out to get something for supper in the rain. Have you noticed anything about this story yet?
When I got home my husband told me he found my camera outside in the rain. Ruined day, ruined night, ruined camera. I dug out my old one and used it for yesterday's shots convinced I was probably done with 365. My husband insisted I open it up with the battery and card out of it and put it in a bag of rice. 24 hours later a camera that wouldn't focus , couldn't adjust the white balance, aperture, or shutter speed seems to be functioning as well as can be expected! Therefore, a miracle!
Wonderful capture and story. The tip for using the rice is fantastic. My daughter used it for a cell phone and it worked great. So glad you recovered the camera.
What a gorgeous photo, Katy and so happy for this miracle shot. I have heard so many good stories about putting electronics in rice and it working. Lucky you and us as you are not going anywhere. Fav for this photo. The detail and colors are amazing
So happy the rice worked for you, I almost watered mine with the flowers a couple months ago. I really enjoy your work, so happy that you will be hanging around. Fabulous shot!
Yes! There IS a God....and he loves photographers! :-) He wouldn't dream of allowing you to be camera-less. You have to be able to take photos of his beautiful world.
I'm so happy that your camera still works! I think this butterfly is pretty happy about it, too.
What a story! I've used the rice trick on a phone that fell into the swimming pool so good to hear it's useful for cameras as well! So pleased you're not deserting 365!
@pasadenarose LOL! apparently not although in the grand scheme of things I am not sure God is that concerned about my camera! I really appreciate all your support, Rose! Thanks.
@maggiemae Well it was still very wet and I tried to dry it off as much as possible before putting it in the closed bag of rice. I imagine if it had gone in the pool there would NOT have been a happy ending.
Great story and recovery! Nice colors on this moth/butterfly as well! Generally, moths have no club or tip to their antenna, butterflies do. I can't really tell from this capture but I'd guess this is a moth.
Love your miracle shot. This is such a lovely capture considering, those colours are amazing! Maybe it's done the camera some good, a bit of a clean out!
@mikegifford Thank, Mike! a happy ending is always nice! I assumed a butterfly from the color but know about the antennae shape so I am as confused as you about it.
What an awesome capture, Katy! Was this with the camera that got wet? A friend of mine has some very expensive hearing aids and they accidentally went thru the wash. She was panic stricken and heard about the rice trick and it worked! Once they dried out they were OK.
@jankoos Thanks for the kind words and this WAS with the camera that got wet. Actually the first shot after it dried out! I am so grateful it still works. I am a true believer in rice from now on!
I'm so happy that your camera still works! I think this butterfly is pretty happy about it, too.
And a great moth shot as well!
