Fun edit! Two l-o-n-g days of work and basketball championships have forced no pics for me... but I'll be back soon. :) The girls are playing in the championship game tomorrow night... they will be playing a team that has beat them 3 times this year. One thing is for sure... the State Champions will be from Whitman County!
Thought my eyes were going funny when I first opened this up!! Very creative of you!
We spoke to our friend who came off her horse last week, and she will be having a halo fitted next week, and will have it for 3 months. She was told they have to wait about 10 days post accident before putting it on, then she will have weekly adjustments done for the first month, then she might be able to come back home.
My heart aches for your friendI I can't imagine why they would wait so long before putting it on! I winced a bit when you spoke of the adjustments! How well I remember them! they really never hurt but I did always take a pain pill before I went for mine. Why can't she come home and where is she?
@grammyn
Trish is in hospital in Perth, which is nearly 500 km (about 300 miles) from here, so it would be too much to go back and forth every week for the adjustments. We don't have the specialist doctors here in Geraldton to look after this type of injury.I also wondered why they waited so long, but she did have some spinal cord bruising and swelling, so maybe they had to wait until that settled. Initially she didn't know where her hands and feet were, but now she has feeling and movement in all limbs. Trish was due to go to America in a weeks time to coach the USA polo cross team, I think she is so grateful to be alive, as are we!
@onie_m I wondered of availability was an issue! Waiting for the swelling to go down sounds reasonable as does waiting to see if she has movement and feeling. If she didn't I think the halo would be a wasted effort. My heart aches for her and all she is going through. Tell herI am praying for a speedy and complete recovery for her!
