If you grew up when I did, before permanent press clothing, you understand the term "mountains of ironing". My mother, after teaching a full day at school, would pay for my sister and my piano lessons by ironing the music teacher's clothing each week. She stood at that ironing board the entire time of each of our lessons and there was never an end to it.
