Far and Away by grammyn

Far and Away

While waiting for my daughter and her friends to arrive for a birthday luncheon I managed to get a quick shot of this lady braving the less than warm temperatures of today. It never got above 32° F/ 0° which is quite cold for our part of the world. As you can see the wind was blowing causing her to clench her arms together against it.

I feel cold just looking at her -- or should I blame my drafty house? ha ha Cold here too. Seriously, though, you've captured the scene well.

Nice capture! You can feel how cold she is.
January 8th, 2017
She is not dressed for freezing or below. Where is your coat, lady?
January 8th, 2017
And not wasting any time getting to where she was going. Good capture

In the 20s here today with teens for windchill. I am loving it .... how about you?
January 8th, 2017
She needs a few more layers of clothing!

Sue
Good candidate shot. Well spotted

what a well done picture. Not to worry, your blood (and hers) will thicken if this keeps up

it's -14C here with a windchill of -21C or probably colder. dusting of snow, just dusting as it's too cold for snow. well, at least the sun's shining and the sky is blue. i'm still debating if i want to go out or not! cheers, girlfriend!

Well captured - She was not bundled up nearing enough!

@mcsiegle probably both reasons. Thanks for the nice comment Mary
@eudora I appreciate that. I know it made ME cold to see it.
@alophoto There are lots of people here who don't have coats because a heavy sweater works most of the time.
@digitalrn Thanks Rick. She was definitely on the move.
@espyetta I'm with you but definitely not in the majority!
@kwiksilver I agree but most people here don't have them because these are unusual temperatures for us and seldom last more than a day or two when we get them.
@suesouthwood Thank you so much Sue. I think it was just a lucky shot.
@francoise I appreciate that Francoise. Unfortunately , or fortunately depending on your point of view, it seldom keeps up so most people don't have the proper clothing for it...or the blood!
@summerfield we have had a similar couple of days but it will be in the 21s C by Wednesday!
@linnypinny Thanks and I agree but lots of people here don't have coats because these temperatures are rare

I never had a coat til moving to OH.
January 9th, 2017
@alophoto then you know what I mean!
January 9th, 2017
It really is bone chilling for us southerners! And I like how she looks blown away almost. Great shot!
January 9th, 2017
Love the motion of her hair! Amazing candid capture!!
January 9th, 2017
@darylo thanks Daryl/ I know there are lots of people that never wear long pants or coats and that is very bonechilling for me to see. Thanks bunches
@cjphoto I am so glad you like it Chris Thanks so much

It's so cold here tonight my nose is cold even though the woodstove is blazing away- so I'm thinking this lady either 1) hates heavy winter coats like I do! 2) is to vain to bundle up or 3) is completely nuts for walking outside in cold weather like that without a coat on! hehe
January 10th, 2017
Like it in B and w. 0'.....wow that's a tad chilly!!!
January 10th, 2017
Well done. You can see it is cold.
January 10th, 2017
Nice shot, Katy. She looks so cold and sounds horrible there. We have had warm storms. Cooling to the 30's on Friday. Hope it is nicer by the time you read this.
January 12th, 2017
@olivetreeann What a differemce a week makes we are at 79° yesterday and today which is why most of the people here don't have winter coats to start with!
@ruthmouch Unusually cold for us but now at 26° C today. Crazy, right?! so glad you like it.
@sdutoit thanks so much Sylvia. her body language leaves no doubt doesn't it?
@darsphotos It got much nicer. We are at 79° today but it will get colder agian. Hopefully not this cold though

A week later and hope your weather is still nice. We about floated away here though where our house is will never flood luckily. Lots of rain this year and more coming next week, mid week. A huge difference from last years drought. I need to get back to the park as soon as I get well. This month long stuff wants to hang on. Hope you are doing well.
January 14th, 2017
@darsphotos I remember when you were in the drought. I think the phrase "careful what you wish for " applies!
January 15th, 2017
@grammyn You are right on, Katy. I was thinking the same as we were praying for rain, doing rain dances, etc and now this. More coming on Wednesday and Thursday and possibly into the weekend. It may be as bad as this last storm and create more flooding and definitely more snow down to the 3,000 foot level. Happy we are getting the rain.

I love the "fogginess" of this... makes it look like the wind is blowing dust in the air.
January 20th, 2017
@marilyn I think because it was so far away that it was less than clear. I'm glad it works for you, thanks
