Forbearance

This dragonfly stayed on this leaf for what seemed like forever. I saw him fly off once or twice but he returned to the exact same spot! It is directly over my rain barrel which is the breeding ground for frogs (and mosquitoes) in my yard. Knowing that dragonflies eat tadpoles and mosquitoes indicates to me he was just waiting for a meal or browsing the menu below!
I'm sure that neon sign over the barrel that says "Eat at Katy's" helps too. Good shot!

It looks quite a dark light here so your catch of Mr Dragon F is superb! fav

Nice shot. Wish we had more of these critters here to control the mosquito population!

Even just one less mosquito would be wonderful.

He knows your watching him. we got lots of mosquitoes, but no dragonflies.

Do you have mosquito fish? Our mosquito abatement people sometimes hand them out.

i love dragonflies. sadly i don't see them around here in toronto, even down at the trail. i get mosquito bites though so i'm always wearing a patch. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. in any case, i stay away from grassy places as we are told that there are black fleas now even in the city -- the result of people going camping or hiking in infested areas with their dogs. and lyme disease is just a downer. i have a friend who has it, got it from hiking, too, and they have spent so much money just so she'd get better but only just. aces on the pov. i like it!

@gijsje I am glad you like it and thank you bep
@pej2 Thanks so much Paul. I wondered why we had do many around our house and now I know~!
@tunia I totally agree and love that this is such a pretty way to eliminate them!
@bruni He probably does but is more interested in his next meal. I am sorry you don't have any where you live.
@shutterbug49 I have never heard of those before so I am guessing we don't. I doubt one would live in my rain barrel anyway!
@summerfield Thanks Vikki. I have never hear of a mosquito patch. They bother my husband more than me and I have heard B vitamins help keep them away. We have fleas every now and then because of the dogs but not all the time.
