Cicada Gift by grammyn

Cicada Gift

Gotta love a man who comes home giddy with excitement because he has a "picture of the day" subject for you! He was most impressed with how heavy it was. Apparently it was still inside the shell.
Fantastic photo but... ick! I remember being overrun by them when I lived in NM.

Wow- on two counts- hubby and buggy!

Love this macro. You could tag it darkroom-bug also.

High 5 for your hubby, he rocks! Nice shot. I have not yet seen one. Great details in this shot.

Looks rather prehistoric -- and what a nice thing for your husband to have brought home!

Hahaha, made me laugh, this is definitely a man's idea of a picture for the day. We don't have cicadas here so they fascinate me so much! Awesome job on the details.

Wonderful macro!

Wonderful in black and white! Your husband is supportive of your 365 project. That is so great.

He’s a keeper for sure — the husband. Cicadas are rather cool looking, I do have to say. You’ve made good photographic use of this one.
August 15th, 2020
It's funny that you post this because, as kids, we called them katy-dids.
August 15th, 2020
What a good guy you've got! Nice capture, especially the lacy wings and little bit of whatever it is hanging from the mouth.
August 15th, 2020
Wow! Great detail and I love the B&W... or is the cicada just that color?

@wyomingsis Thanks.Not exactly my favorite either. We seldom see as much as hear them around here.
@kwind Thank you Kim They are quite large so not difficult to shoot and it was my favorite part of this one too
@amyk Thank you Amy They are really quite large so easy to shoot
@linnypinny thanks Lin I will do my best! LOL
@olivetreeann Yup thanks Ann.
@shutterbug49 thank you and I just might do it but this bug is almost as big as my thumb so I am not sure it counts as a macro
@dutchothotmailcom Thanks so much Esther. IT means summer is here when we start hearing them
@onewing isn't he romantic!? LOL
@taffy They probably ARE prehistoric. I can think of things I might rather have had!
@cjphoto glad to give you a chuckle. It means summer is here when we hear them outside here.
@ludwigsdiana LOL! Are you sure? some hubbies bring flowers! ;~} Thanks Diana
@30pics4jackiesdiamond thanks for your positive comments Jackie. Yes and no. We get these every summer but they do make a lot of noise. For us it means summer is officially here when we hear them.
@gijsje Thanks bep. the bug is really about as big as my thumb so this may not be a macro but just a close up shot
@louannwarren thanks Lou Ann. I think he has succumbed to "If you can't beat it join it"
@mcsiegle LOL! Thanks Mary. They ARE interesting to look at.
@scoobylou oh my goodness That is funny!
@randystreat Sometimes he comes through for sure. Thanks. I liked the wings the most too
@marilyn thanks bunches sissy. He is mostly B&W but there was a litttle yellow to his wings so I stripped all the color out!

August 17th, 2020
@summerfield I do still have it! I had thought maybe I would try and make it work for one of her photos. It’s what I should’ve done tonight I guess.
