How the Mighty Have Fallen

If you look closely you can see my granddaughter in front of the roots of a tree uprooted by the hurricane that went through our town. That tree was probably 80 feet tall
Oh my! Such a great illustrative image. Even though Zeta was a category 2 hurricane, it really caused a lot of damage!

;( , incredible how those trees can tumble over like tooth picks. A shame to loose those trees. I hope the cleaning up is gaping smooth.

How amazing, great shot of this old uprooted tree. I suppose the roots were just not deep enough in the ground.

Mother Nature loves to show off her power! Great shot showing the immense size of those roots!

Wicked winds with this storm. The roots of these trees are long. I think the strange weather over the past several years has weakened our trees, though, making them more susceptible to the vagaries of the weather.

@louannwarren @linnypinny @corinnec @dutchothotmailcom @ludwigsdiana @marilyn @scoobylou @photographycrazy @30pics4jackiesdiamond @gijsje @randystreat For those of you not familiar with hurricanes this was done by very strong winds. Unlike a tornado that twists as it blows a hurricane is just a straight force wind and it is a little unusual for them to have this much power 150miles/240 kilometers inland. The rain may have softened the ground making it easier for the 40-60 MPH/64-96 KPH winds to uproot this tree but it still took a strong gust to do it. Thank you for all your comments

Oh, my. The inclusion of your granddaughter in the shot certainly lends perspective. Really too bad to lose such a big tree.
