I fixed breakfast after church and then started getting food ready for Christmas Eve. Two batches of Chex mix, sugar spiced pecans, cranberry fudge, two kinds of peppermint bark, candied orange peel, and turtles. Tomorrow it will be rum balls, chocolate covered peanuts, peanut butter oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, and maybe more chex mix. This is a one and done photo because I am too tired to think let alone plan something creative tonight.
It all sounds wonderful and the capture looks delish! I'll miss my sister's candy and chex mix this year, but my mom did make her chocolate chip cookies for when we have Christmas (outside on Tuesday since the weather will be better than the 24th or 25th)
Oh how I wished I liked chocolate. Sugar spiced pecans sounds good. I saved a recipe for spiced nuts cooked in the slow cooker that I might give a try. Probably better than dozens of cookies that I will sit and eat until I'm sick.
My God! The productivity unleashed in the last few days! I hope you and your family will be more moderate in your sugar consumption on Christmas Eve than what is suggested here. Or are you like my mother who used to make lots of different kinds of cookies and plate them up for friends and neighbors? Some years weβd go with my dad to deliver a couple of those plates on Christmas Eve while my mother got the Santa presents ready for when we returned. Every year when we were little we had just missed him!
@wyomingsis LOL I am sure they did! @linnypinny Thanks Lin I hope everyone else feels the same! I am sorry you will miss out on your usual treats! @dutchothotmailcom LOL! I would gladly share! @louannwarren soemtimes it seems like an army but it will be just half of my family. Thanks Lou Ann @homeschoolmom thanks Lisa @summerfield recipe to follow @randystreat I still can't get over that you don't like chocolate! The recipe I used was for the slow cooker too! @shutterbug49 Thanks a lot Debbie. Half of my family lives here and we have seen each other often since March. We follow all the guidelines (except maybe the distancing one) and they will be eating a fair amount of this food @ludwigsdianaThank you. I wish you could too Diana I would gladly share with you if you came! @lynnz I like them too Thanks @ricksnap so nice of you to say! I am glad you think so @jayberg LOL! As tempted as I was to sample them I didn't because I was afraid I wouldn't stop! @30pics4jackiesdiamond That is so nice of you to be concerned.β₯ When it is over I will @gijsje thank you bep! I hope they are @tunia it was a long day but I feel I got a lot done! @eudora thanks Diana I am glad you think so. I hope they will be! @mcsiegle I can assure you my family will noit be moderate at all! Sometimes I do share with neighbors but this year with 14 family members coming it will mostly go to them. Loved your santa story.
@summerfield@randystreat The recipe I used
1/2 Cup melted butter
1/2 Cup powdered sugar
1and 1/2 t cinnamon
1/4 t allspice
mix spices, sugar and butter
pour over nuts in crockpot making sure to coat all nuts
turn crockpot on high
leave cover off
stir every 45 minutes
cook for 3 hours
When I finished with this I put mine in the oven at 350 degrees for 10 min. just to crisp them up
If you like savory you can use 1T creole seasoning (or any spicy seasoning of choice) instead of the cinnamon and allspice.
I was going to make these tonight until someone called at 8:30 and talked until almost 10. No cooking. I really should go clean up the kitchen but it may wait until the morning.
@randystreat Talking with friends is always better than cooking. Cleaning up the next day is also better than staying up late to do it. Itβs all about priorities, Kathy!
@grammyn No, I rather suspect that there will be nothing left of the items you described! Don't worry though- my friend JoAnn always sends us her homemade peanut butter cups so we will have plenty of our own chocolate to enjoy!
