Apparently I hoard old photos (among other things!) as I have hundreds of them in boxes all over the house. I have decided to put them in albums and throw the negatives away because who uses negatives anyway? Take the photo op and then toss!
For someone who deals almost totally with film for his project go to https://365project.org/peterdegraaff/profile
i hope you scanned your photos before you throw those negatives. i also need to get my arse and organize all my photos. i even have videotapes and manuscripts in floppy disks. how could a small person accumulate so much is beyond me.
The good old times! It is nice to see photos instantly but less build up excitement when you dropped of the film and had to wait a few days for pick up.
My Dad scanned in many of my old negatives and gave the images to me on a disc and then put all the negatives in a ringbind folder. Can't bear to throw such things away!
@summerfield if I could go back and do a do over, being a minimalist of everything would be at the TOP of my list. If I had only known .... hoarder not hoarder LOL
DON'T GET RID OF YOUR NEGATIVES!!! You can get photo-safe pages and put them in notebooks OR scan them first. I have had sooooo many people tell me they regretted throwing out their negatives when the one and only picture they had was destroyed and now there's nothing they can do about it. You may want to keep only the ones that you'd print again and not all the mis-takes but keep them!
@summerfield I jhave the photos and toadya personal scanners make it unnecessary to keep negatives. @dutchothotmailcom You are so right! @shutterbug49 I am slowly getting rid of all of mine @ludwigsdiana I tend to be a hoarder but I realize there is no need to keep these any longer @monikozi I always appreciate your positive comments @koalagardens It certainly is but I have realized they are not really necessary if one has the photos to copy @casablanca I get that . It is really hard to get rid of them @wakelys That is a great idea but I never look at the negatives so feel they aren't necessary @linnypinny Thank sso much Lin. It is a hard choice to make even if I have never used them! @jaybutterfield so nice of you Jay thanks @gijsje I know how hard it is! @tunia that is starting to be my philosophy! @lesip thanks bunches it seems you got to tossing sooner than I did! @randystreat It was another desperation shot KAthy! I seem to be doing lots of those these days! @olivetreeann That is very sound advice but way too late for me! @madamelucy thank you Terri! I think trying to find the right one would be a challenge for me because I didn't organize them as I got them
