In 2015 I went to Tanzania to volunteer in an orphanage for a week. The people who supervised it at the time moved to Uganda and opened a new business supporting a ministry that helps families break the cycle of poverty and dependency. They were speaking in my state and I traveled to hear them and see them once again. They gave me this bracelet, made by someone in Kampala who is trying to break that cycle.
I remember your trip there and many of the pictures. It must be a good feeling to see that a difference has been made and the cycle is being broken. Beautiful gift!

I just have tell you this: my granddaughter Maria did an internship last semester for a nonprofit called Hands Producing Hope https://www.handsproducinghope.org/ which sounds a little like this one. They work with artisans in Rwanda and with refugee women in Baton Rouge, marketing their crafts and helping them in other ways. Maria was so impressed with their work that she hopes to work eventually with nonprofits.
@randystreat thank you Kathy and it definitely was. @myhrhelper Thank you so much Kathy! i appreciate it! @ludwigsdiana Thank you Diana I am glad you do @louannwarren Thank you. They actually came from Texas Lou Ann @marilyn It was almost like it was just last year instead of almost six years ago. Some bags you had given me went with her to be used either by her family or the women they work with so a little part of you is involved now. @eudora You have a good memory Diane. Thanks for sharing that link and God bless your granddaughter for her involvement. Is it the one that just moved to Austin?
