Knowing Ida was supposed to come through today, and not knowing for sure what she would bring, I snapped this leaf on my lawn this morning as a sign of approaching autumn. I wasn't sure I would be able to get out later in the day. As it happened we only go train and not even very much wind from the predicted hurricane Other areas were not as fortunate
A nice contrast between the leaves and the grass. Glad that the weather didn't effect you much. My husband used to talk about the "storm between the seasons" which was a big storm that would blow through this area after which the temperatures would start to cool down. Often the big storm is associated with a hurricane. Now, every time there's a hurricane now that blows through here with high winds and lots of rain, I wonder if it's the storm between the seasons. I actually think it's a bit early yet. Perhaps in a couple of weeks.
It's to early for autumn....right? Not ready. Like the placement of the leaf on the lush grass. Glad you didn't get hit with too much of the hurricane. My brother-in-law lives on the coast in Mississippi. Drove to Florida to beat storm. His house is on stilts but floodwaters went about 4 feet up from foundation. Rest of house seems ok. Heading back Tues, Wed to check damage.
It has been raining all day and they are predicting we will get at least 8" on top of the 6" we got the other day. I suspect we'll be driving through some big puddles tomorrow as we head out of Pa to KY.
@olivetreeann I though about you when I saw the storm path on the radar and noticed how much it was going to hit Pennsylvania! I hope your travels are safe!
@shutterbug49 THanks Debbie. We actually got a worse storm yesterday I think than what could have happened with Ida @randystreat I am glad you like it Kathy. I Like the idea your husband proposed and will keep an eye out for it here @taffy LOL! Well I am ready for it! @madamelucy I am gald you like the photo and thanks for your concern. We are a few hours inaldn so very often get less damage than the coastal areas. I hope your family suffered minimal damage @monikozi I always appreciate your expert opinion @ludwigsdiana so nice of you Diana on both counts @maggiemae that is one thing we have learned. It can always change direction and that does make it stressful! the leaf on the other hand.... .not stressed because I changed it to B&W! ;~} @koalagardens I gues we have adapted. They are fairly accurate with predictions but it can always change so we just do the best we can .........and pray a lot! @olivetreeann the lower temperatures are a bounus if there is no damage! Hope all ended well for you
