1847 Rogers Brothers by grammyn

1847 Rogers Brothers

Lucy Blanchard (LB) was my grandmother's great grandmother. My grandmother was born in 1894 so Lucy was probably born around 1814. She got married in 1834. It is safe to assume she got this silverware sometime after it first came out in 1847 and had it engraved with her initials. I find it interesting that my grandmother's married name was Rogers although no relation to the silver family.
In those days quite common to have your initials on silver. Nowadays, very rare!

Wonderful to have these. Real family heirlooms. I hope you have a note in your silver chest that shares the history of them.

On my recent visit with our uncle, a family Bible came out and I can share that Lucy (Olds) Blanchard was born May 7, 1812, married September 10, 1834 and died August 20, 1880. The Olds maiden name is in the family of the Oldsmobile Olds.

Beautiful lighting on the silverware.

What treasures. I like the low lighting that highlights the shape of the utensils and the engraved initials.
