In keeping with St. David's Day yesterday our Pigmania group will be celebrating during our game tomorrow. That means make Welsh cakes today. I got off to a great start but moved the bowl from the counter to the table to make blending the butter easier. As I was moving it back to the counter to finish adding the rest of the ingredients ............I dropped it and spilled over half the mixture on the floor. Quitting right then seemed like a viable option but I soldiered on and got some made to put on the griddle. Heat or timing (or a combination) made them a little darker than I intended but there will be Welsh cakes for the game tomorrow.
The pictures from my friends and their cakes turned out so much better
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Nice to know I am "trending" I will have to look at your photo again because I felt certain these were burnt. This may have been the second batch that I watched a little more closely. Thanks for your generous support♥
they look yummy. They look like small pan cakes, that we make here in USA. I tell my family that the food is "well cooked, not burned" when there is extra coloration.
They look good to me! My sister had carpet in her kitchen - yes crazy - snd spilled pancake batter one time. The carpet cleaners never did get it all out of the carpet. So don’t feel bad, I’m positive you don’t have carpet in your kitchen! 😊
These look good Katy. Gosh, I had the dough everywhere. I didn't put enough liquid in them to make a soft dough. Some of mine are a bit well done, too. They look like yours and hey tasted good. I am going to have to put most of what's left into the freezer.
Oh my gosh! This took me back to my first (and last) pancakes after we were married! It wasn’t a pretty story and it certainly doesn’t show me in a very good light so I won’t share it, though we do laugh about it now… every time Marvin makes pancakes! I’m sure they were delicious and I hope they brought you good luck in your game.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond I swept it up and threw it in the bin @theredcamera LOL I will have to start using that phrase. They are more like a biscuit than a pancake in texture and are rolled @louannwarren they did taste good and no, I have not carpet in my kitchen, thankfully @randystreat I had a mess too and just left it until the end. They did tase OK though and the Grand Chap likes them so they will be gone soon @dutchothotmailcom thanks Esther they were @shutterbug49 Thank you Debbie. They have more of a biscuit texture than a pancake does and they are rolled insted of dropped. @ludwigsdiana they were good. The griddle is black and probably has burnt butter on it. The recipe calls for frying them in butter and I think I got the heat a little too high so you are not wrong it needed a little extra attention @kjarn the recipe sounds very similar but these are rolled and cut out instead of dropped and I did enjoy them @wakelys They turned out OK i am going to need yoiu to fill in those blanks for me because I can't figure it out! @joansmor That is a good despription Joan but they are more like a biscuit than a pancake @linnypinny They were pretty good. @lesip It is fun to feel like we are all together when we do something like this and snouter practice did NOT pay off (good memory!) @marilyn you will have to tell me sometime. They were good but did NOT bring any luck with them. Thanks @mcsiegle I like your recipe with the spice in them. I think it is great to feel like we are all together when we do this even though we are so far apart! @olivetreeann Oh no worries I have had my share of those accidents too!
Hope dogs ate spillage??

Mishaps do happen but it is all good in the end.
