I saw this Friday night when it was earlier, lighter, and I did NOT have my camera. I prevailed upon the Grand Chap to bring me back tonight so I could get it. Nothing looked as good as it did Friday. The moon seemed smaller, it was much later and darker out and I waited for over an hour for this disappointing shot.
Where would we be without the support of our chaps??
Second visit syndrome we call this. So look back on first visit and recall the pleasure of seeing it, and forget disappointed second one
I do not think it is disappointing. I love the framing. The moon is so difficult to catch at just the right time. I don't know what I'd do without the camera caddy. He follows me around with tripods and lenses. It is a good thing that we support one another's hobbies.
@marilyn Love that I can always count on you for that support!♥ @ludwigsdiana how very kind of you to say Diana thank you so much @30pics4jackiesdiamond I know right?! Thanks for the good suggestion and the support @kjarn that is really very nice of you Kathy and means so much to me @louannwarren Ah, Lou Ann you are so good to be so positive thank you so much @cdonohoue I really appreciate your encouragement Cathyand it is nice to have that background support of our guys @montserrat tu es si gentil de le dire merci
Another situation when perhaps two shots might have worked. One focused on the frame and one focused on the moon. I do like the bit of blur on the moon as isn't that often the case that the sky is cloudy when the moon is full.
I can relate to the “missed best opportunity.” The concept and composition is great, and the photo is is rather appealing. I like Kathy’s @randystreat idea. I’ll have to file that away in my brain.
The concept is one worth trying to get at another time- but orbits being what they are it may not line up again that way until next year. It's a really great idea- I can feel your disappointment. You could definitely repeat it though with a composite- take a sharp picture of the window, and insert a better picture of the moon into the window, then erase everything on the new layer except the moon. In my program I can move the new layer around. I'm pretty sure other programs do the same- so give it a try on one of those days you don't have a shot.
@olivetreeann thanks so much for that encouragement Ann. Somehow using a Composite feels like cheating. Especially when I saw how perfect it was composed naturally, and it is something I will keep in mind and try again.
i couldn't figure this out. i take it it's a reflection of the moon on the liquid in that thing. what is it? it has often happened to me - seeing something perfectly photographic, but either i have not my camera with me and the iphone is desperately incapable of capturing what i see, or i'm too mesmerized to think other than stare and admire. you did well here. be happy with it. aces!
@summerfield this is a hole in a building through which the moon could be seen but I didn’t do a very good job of capturing it for all the reasons mentioned above
