Unloved. by grammyn

Unloved.

I see this house every time I drive to my daughter's house. and have often wanted to photograph it The day I took this for the film challenge I took two and it was misty and rainy. I may go back on good weather and try again.

Kodak 35mm 400ISO
oooooh oooh ooooooh - now you are talkin my language lol.....old, derelict houses....love it! i took my film camera with me on my recent road trip, but the camera malfunctioned as i was taking the very first shot :(......anyway nice work - the mist adds great mood to the shot!

@sticksandstones Thanks so much, Jenny. Every time I post a picture that I feel could be so much better someone always seems to like it very much. Today it is you!

Great job Katy...it certainly could do with some love, a few nails etc...the fog just adds to the atmosphere. It may be interesting to see how it looks on a sunny day.

I like old houses like this in need of TLC. Can you get close to it and maybe shoot upward and perhaps in b&w? I think it has possibilities!

@trumpetman It needs more than TLC which you will see in a day or two when I post the whole house. I may try your suggestions on a sunny day. thanks Mike!

@ruthmouch Thanks, Ruth but a few nails aren't going to fix it. I will post the rest of it in a few days and you will see what I mean.

The misty weather makes it look even more unloved. I like old houses. Whenever I see one around here it seems that the owner is outside and someone is still living there -- so I chicken out and don't take the picture. It's happened to me twice now!

@debbim LOL! there is another house in town that I want to shoot and haven't yet for that very reason. I haven't seen the owner but I am pretty sure someone is still living there and will come out and shoot me if they see me trying to photogaph the house!

If what I see is what it looks like, I can see why you say it needs more that nails and TLC... looks like the back of the house, at least the roof, might me MIA! :) Cool shot and I agree with others who say the weather adds to the desolate look.

There's a softness to this that I really like, Katy. Great capture.

@marilyn So the weather is a HA (happy accident) and you are totally correct about the house. Thanks, Sissy.

@debsphotos Gee, thanks, Debbie. It always amazes me that something I think is really bad can be like by someone else.
February 16th, 2012
@grammyn -- I'm learning that photos don't always have to be crisply focused and considered masterpieces to strike an emotion in someone.

@debsphotos Good point!

Deb
I can't help staring at the photo! Very thought provoking for me . . .
February 18th, 2012

Looks so retro

Wow--won't be long before that porch collapses with the rest of the house. This is really sort of spooky looking with the missing roof and the grain of the film...
February 19th, 2012
@peterdegraaff It has been there long enough to qualify for retro!

On this day it did look spooky. On a sunny day it just looks unloved!
