100 Tears Ago Today

I bought this book at the the Titanic Museum in Branson, Missouri six years ago. It was written originally within weeks of the sinking of the Titanic
So it must be pretty well documented and a historic read?! Quite the story .. and very sad for so many people at that time. Did they have alot of original items at that museum, Katy?

@karenann There were lots of items that were original. For me the most emotional part of the tour, which was done at our own pace, was each person was given the passport of someone on the ship. (not a real one) We could find their name or a reference to them at various places in the museum. At the end of the tour we found out if our person survived or died. It made a big impact!

Oh wow. Having someones passport as younwent through is such a neat idea. It would get everyone so involved in the museum.

That sounds like an awesome book! Morgan loves all things "Titanic" (the history...not the movie). What's the title of this book and the author???

@debbim It definitely made it more personal for me!

@debsphotos This particular book is the Sinking of the Titanic By Logan Marshall and abridged and edited by Bruce Caplan. The Library of Congress Catalog Card Number is 98-96592 and the ISBN is0-9644610-1-3. If that doesn't get it for you I have an e-mail address as well that might be helpful.

Great idea, Katy... wish I had thought of it! :) I remember that my passport was Margaret Brown, so I knew immediately that "I" survived... but I was still incredibly moved by that last room with the passenger list. Seeing those names in plain print and italics to differentiate between those who survived and those who didn't really made the whole thing so real for me. I also remember how incredibly cold that water was!

Oh wow. What a story and how amazing to be able to emotionally connect so long after the sinking. Thanks for the photo Katy.

@marilyn Thanks, Sissy! I have to confess I cant remember who my person was but I know they died. the most touching part of that for me was the babies. The water was also a real eye opener for me. It is a wonder anyone survived!

@jennwearing I am glad you like it Jennifer.

@peterdegraaff It still gets to me when I think about it. Especially in light of the cruise line that went down recently in Italy.

When I posted this last night I must have been in a hurry and my typing skill leave a lot to be desired. I usually proof everything I type for that reason but sometimes I miss things. This time I missed the typo in the title. It was supposed to be 100 "Years" ago today. This morning I realized I had typed "Tears" and decided my fingers knew what it should have been and I am going to leave it this way!
