American University Beirut seems to have cats everywhere! As we walked the campus they could be seen darting about, resting on the lawns or snuggling up to a student! This one was sitting on a wall watching the action as students walked by at the end of the day.
@digitalrn I don't think so . Ruth said she though they clipped the ears (you just can't see the other one) when they spayed them to make it easier to tell they had been spayed as they wander all over the campus and belong to no one!
Cute little fuzz-baby, but it looks like they took quite a chunk off the ear (or ears? maybe it's the angle). His mouth even looks a bit deformed, but it's still a very sweet kitty.

It's very common to notch the ears of FERAL cats that have been spayed/neutered so that they can be easily identified as such. That way, time and effort isn't wasted trapping cats for a trip to the vet, only to find out it wasn't necessary. I learned about this when I was caring for a very fertile feral cat. A neighbor and I went half and half on the vet bill and got her spayed. Crummy little cat disappeared not long after, but at least she wouldn't be making any more babies.
And it's typically a small (but noticeable) notch. This cat seems to be missing much more than that. OUCH.
@pasadenarose As I recall the ears were identical so it must be the angle of the shot! Thank you for supporting my claim about the clipping! It caused me to wonder when no one else had heard of it!
