Gather at the Table

Because our weather has turned cold I put out a little extra food for the birds and was surprised to see so many of them all together. My favorite is the little one right in the middle with his mouth wide open. He looks as if he is complaining about everyone eating his food.

Awww! So cute! What birds are these? Some kind of sparrow?

Adorable capture. How nice of you to put food for them. My problem is that if I do it, all the squirrels in the neighborhood rush to my garden.

fabulous capture I think he's yelling MORE....

@vskolnik I am not sure, Vee! I have been told maybe a carolina wren! the head looks similar but the body looks more like a sparrow so I will have to bow to someone else's knowledge!

@anazad511 Thaks, Ana! Our neighbor puts out food as well so we have squirrels anyway http://365project.org/grammyn/themes-and-comp/2013-02-01 but this late in the da yI didn't see any! Maybe they don't like the food on the ground!

@lesip Thanks so much and I think you are absolutely right! LOL!

So lovely too see all these birds. The seed in my feeder is disappearing, but they must clean it out while I'm at work. I have only ever seen one bird, a dove, sitting on the feeder.

What pretty little birds! Nice shot. We've been getting cardinals, but I haven't been able to get a shot of them.

Quite the bevy of little cuties... and of course composed beautifully! :)

Again a great bird shot, each bird individually captured, I also like the stone and the greenery in the background.

Either that or he is yelling Thank You!

@onie Thanks, Onie! I have noticed they "dine" early in the morning and again in the late afternoon! They pop in every now and then during the day but there are definitely two "mealtimes".

@eudora Thanks, Diane! Cardinals seem to be very skittish here! You have to anticipate almost because they don't sit still very long! Keep trying. It is so worth it when you finally get one!

@digitalrn LOL! You might be right! I think I'll go with that!

awww, they are soooo cute. When ever I see birds in our yard they fly away as soon as I grab my camera - I must have a reputation of going crazy with that camera around here. Somehow you have managed to have them still trust you lol

@myhrhelper Thanks, Kathy! I usually shoot through my kitchen window but this one was outside! I tried to be quiet and then waited for them to show up and moved very slowly for the shot. I think they were just very interested in the food!
