As I was driving by this cotton field today I saw the harvest in progress. I stopped and two gentlemen who were helping control traffic on the road were very friendly and helpful and let me take pictures. They also told me to take some cotton as well for my granddaughters who were with me.
The machine is driven through the field and the cotton is forced up by the yellow arms into the machine where it is stored in the back until there is enough to make a bale and then the bale is dropped onto the field and a tractor picks it up and carries it to a storage area until it can be hauled to the gin. I missed seeing the bale drop out the back but was able to catch the tractor hauling it away.
I hope to get some pictures of the gin process soon.
