Nice star capture! I always core and wedge my apples...not sure I have ever noticed this in quite this we before! (I have with dried apples, but not fresh!) I'm assuming you removed the seeds....

What a beautifiul shot...I don't know if you know it but cut apples like this have a long history in druid, celtic and christian religions....if you are interested check out this link,.....
