I pulled this guy out of the pool yesterday. I have always wanted to get a shot of a dragonfly and this is the only way I have been able to capture one so far!
It's a GREAT shot! I was in the camera store talking to the salesman that specializes in macro photography. I asked how people capture bugs so well when are pretty much always in motion. He said they use dead or comatose bugs for subjects! HA! I had to laugh at that one. Nicely done, Katy. Detail is impeccable.
Fab detail! You really need to check out rach_who... Her bug/macro shots are amazing! She had a dragonfly a couple of days ago and the eyes are eerily similar,
@debsphotos Look at me on the cutting edge of macro and didn't even know. I will have to disagree though because there have been some pretty awesome shots on this site and I don't think they used dead bugs. Thanks for the nice comments,Debbie!
@grammyn -- Oh,no. He takes wonderful pictures. It's a huge store and they are nationwide (Calumet Photographic). He is their macro specialist in that particular store. They have his work displayed. Stunning. And he helped me a lot when I bought the macro ring. Took his time, gave me tips, explained things. I always ask for him now for everything.
OMG..I forgot to come see your "Death of a Dragonfly" photo from when you mentioned it the other day. This is priceless. and you know what? His wing still manages to look interesting and attractive. It looks like a mosaic or something. This rocks...even if the subject is drowned and dead!
