Hover Craft

Another shot of our Ruby Throated humming bird. Not as clear as I would like but not bad for sooc and the motion blur challenge again!
Awesome Katy! Excellent, it does work for the motion blur :)

@tara11 Thanks so much, Tara! I need to work on overall clarity but I was trying for the red color on this one!

@noaceyet Thanks, Robert! I have a goal to get a clearer shot but this will do for now! We either have more of them than we used to or I am just noticing them more but they are so interesting for me to watch.

@grammyn I still have not hung up my hummingbird feeder...gotta' do,it this spring/summer! It is shaped and colored like a margarita! That would make a funny pic!

Hummer shots are very difficult as you usually need to just sit and wait with your camera on a tripod if using much tele. I have seen photos on Flickr that required 1/2000 second to stop the hummer wings and 1/5000 sec to stop dragonfly wings. Practice and patience makes perfect but moving birds and animals are some of the most difficult subjects. Best wishes.

Love it! Aren't they mesmerizing!

I am so jealous. I must wait until my new bush grows and blooms.

Amazing color on that throat! And the title is perfect! :) I might need to consider getting a feeder... but they also seem to attract bees and I don't want them! Hmmm...

Well done! We get excited here when we see the woodpecker or the barn owl - no chance of photographing them, unless I build a hide and live in it!
April 6th, 2013
Great shot, well done!
April 6th, 2013
@morrisroos Thanks, Don! I really appreciate the advice! I am sorely lacking in the patience department! ;~}

@vskolnik Thanks, Vee and yes they are!
April 6th, 2013
@digitalrn Thanks, Rick. It will happen for you too.

@marilyn Oh, the dilemma! Get one and put it far enough away from your doors that it won't be a problem! I would set it by your water pump!
So glad you like the shot!

@wrenlewis Thank you so much! I am lucky to have a window that is near the feeders and the birds don't usually see me.
April 6th, 2013
@silverlight Thanks os much, Cheryl! I really appreciate it!
