There are still cotton fields that haven't been harvested. It seems a little late to me but I am thankful for the opportunity to get some shots. My first year I posted a picture similar to this and a friend in Russia commented she had never seen growing cotton before. I got her address and mailed her some! She was thrilled to have it to touch and showed all her friends in Moscow. You never know what is going to impress someone.
It looks so reddish in the right hand side pic! You'd think I would have seen a lot, growing up in GA, but I grew up in extreme North Ga which is less farmland/more mountains and then went to urban area. I did run a race, years ago, in Cartersville, each year..in Oct. And we ran on dirt roads through cotton fields. It was pretty cool! Gradually, they paved the roads and the fields sold out to shopping centers. Sigh. Nice pic, Katy!
FAV! I've been posting similar shots. My first fall in the South. I can't believe the crops are still in the fields in mid-Nov. I'm absolutely fascinated by the cotton. Fantastic shots!
@espyetta Thanks, MB! Glad to give you a little trip through nostalgia tonight! Lots of cotton fields that were here 24 years ago have gone the way of shopping centers too.
Hello Katy)))) i loved your first shot and of course i do love this))) cotton balls are wonderful:) i have your touching present on my desk:) thank you so much for it!)
@anazad511 Showing my ignorance! They grow cotton in PR? Or did you vacation in the states? Thanks Ana for taking the time to comment ! It means a lot to me.
@nana Do you live in the midwest then? Until we moved here I had only seen pictures of it! I tend to take it a little for granted now but it is still an awesome sight to see a field that looks like it is covered with snow on an 80 degree day!
@digitalrn I really appreciate that Rick. usually by the end of October it has been all harveste! I guess they wait until the last possible moment before our rainy season starts.
@nyusha Anna! I was wondering if you would see this! It brought back such wonderful memories of your enthusiasm to have your own cotton! I never see a field of cotton that I don't think of you now! Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Love, love this. Not something you usually see. I lived in Arkansas for a brief period of time, and we had a cotton field in back of us. Most people don't have a clue how cotton grows. Fav
