This Longhorn is standing near the waterfall where I took a photo of a crane that I posted some time back. The waterfall is dry now.
This Longhorn and his pasture companion are on my April 5th posting.
Thank you for your comments and suggestions on my earlier photos and any that you post for this one. I appreciate them. Thank you for your follows.
This is a migraine type evening for me, I will catch up on comments as I can, but am unable to do it tonight.
Check out my Extras album.
Feel better, ASAP.
I have one minor suggestion that hopefully will make you smile. If you could photoshop out the fence and replace with blue bonnets, and put a magnificent sunset, and throw a star or two in, the photo would be perfection!
@brumbe I should have photoshopped him purple, for TCU!! Not that great with Photoshop yet, but bluebonnets would be neat. I pass by this place twice a day and just love these Longhorns.
I'm always amazed at these longhorns. This one seems to have exceptionally long horns. It seem they would restrict the cows ability to get around. Nice capture.
Wow look at those horns, I wouldn't like to mess with him ! He has a great colour almost like coffee with chocolate sprinkled on the top & before you stir it up ! I notice the fencing is close together so his horns won't get trapped !
what a beautiful specimen! I've never seen one and it seems like it'd be thrilling to do so. thanks for stopping by and commenting and I hope you feel better soon.
@dodie I have another shot of him and his pasture companion earlier in my album. The secret to this shot is that he turned his head away and my husband would open the car door and shut it to get his attention! My hubby is the greatest! He knows just what to do to get their attention without scaring them.
@kerristephens@reanne Thank you! I feel better today. I have a photo of this Longhorn and his field companion earlier in my album. They are magnificient.
@honestabe@vernabeth This one and his pasture companion (also a steer) are kept just for show. They used to have a couple of draft horses, like Clydesdales, also. I have been told by a rancher that raises them as a hobby, that the horns on the males grow longer and the steers get bigger.
@alia_801@mlvera@happypat Thanks! I feel better today. It seems to me to be a competition to breed these animals to have longer and longer horns. They will measure them from tip to tip. I was surprised that they made steers out of this one and his pasture companion for they are two of the nicest ones that I have seen, plus they have the extremely long horns. I have seen one of these poke his companion in the bottom with his horns, as if to say "get a move on, let's go!".
@stepheesue Thanks! I love to look at the Longhorns and have taken several pics. The baby ones are so cute. I have a photo of one earlier in my album as well as a photo of this one and his pasture companion.
Those horns are amazingly large! Our cows' horns are only a fraction of this length. I love how you captured the donkey in the shot too - they are one of my favourite animals :)
