Taken through a thick glass window at my work. There is a built-in planter about four feet off the ground with shrubs planted in it. We have watched the adult Cardinals this summer and were so happy to see the babies. This is the last one that was left in the nesting area, the others have been coaxed out by the parents and are in taller trees and bushes.
I will post another pic of this baby from a different angle in my extras album.
Thank you for your comments and suggestions, they are appreciated.
I am still behind in comments and postings, still trying to catch up as I can.
I've been following you for the longest time and then I just checked and you weren't on my list!?!? I've just added you again! I'd read that this has been happening to others too. I wondered why I hadn't seen your pics for a while!! Anyway, this is so cute!
@kimmiesue Thanks, I grew kind of attached to them! I had read something about things happening, but I thought it was mostly inactive people. I saw some missing from my lists too. Thanks for adding me back.
@vernabeth The darkness is mostly due to taking the photo through the thick glass pane and he was in a bush in the corner of the planter - therefore, not a lot of light there at that time. When he was down at the bottom, you could not tell him from the limbs. When it is lightened up, it loses the contrast. I liked it better dark. The babies are not red, they are a grayish color, this may be a baby female or the color may come when it loses its downy baby feathers. They are gone today, so it looks like the parents were able to get it to move on with the others. I miss them.
