First Step Out on a Ledge

The parents have coaxed two babies out on the ledge in preparation for flying lessons. There is a total of 5 babies! Parents were not thrilled with me butting in. In sunlight, the parents backs have a blue-black color. This was taken with my 55-250 lens on my Canon. Not cropped.
Scary times for fledgling birds!

The little baby looks like it's saying, "Do we have to mama?" Nice shot!

the colouring on the mother is magnificent. Those poor babies are scared stiff. Excellent capture - and you did not crop, magnificent indeed

@happypat Yes, it is scary for them. They grow up so fast, no room in the nest now. Will probably do test flights tomorrow.

@tonygig Thank you so much, Tony! I will miss these when they fly away.

@yaorenliu Thank you for visiting. Yes, close as my short self could get without scaring the adult bird away. I used a zoom lens.

@olivetreeann Thank you, Ann. They do resist getting out of the nest and then flight trials.

@ninaganci Thank you, Nina, I appreciate your comment and fav. I got as close as I could and used my zoom lens. Some of them come back every year. Unfortunately, none grew up last year, because of Mockingbirds and snakes.

@pyrrhula My father was a farmer and rotated his crops. A different crop each growing season.
