We just gave all the empty water bottles we saved this holiday and last to this man, who spends his day walking the streets and searching through waste containers, collecting as many bottles as he can. He squeezes them so that they become as small as possible, and then takes the full bags somewhere for the plastic to be recycled. For each full bag, he receives (and this is not a typo) 1 dinar, which equals about 51 eurocents...
Fascinating profession. I would think it pays off not to squeeze the bottles too tightly and produce more bags a day, but I imagine he would have thought about that already. Lief van jullie dat jullie voor hem hebben gespaard!
Ik vind het idd ook veel te weinig, maar ja, daar kunnen we weinig aan veranderen, behalve dan onze flessen opsparen. @halkia Ja, ik denk dat vrijwel de hele zak van ons was. Twee zomervakanties lang zeker 2 of 3 flessen per dag tikt aardig aan... @realjaco Ik zou zelf die flessen ook gewoon groot hebben gelaten, maar waarschijnlijk krijgt hij dan nog minder per zak betaald.
