Salt Flats

The southern portion of the San Francisco bay has been used as salt flats for over 100 years. Ponds were built up and flooded then dehydrated leaving salt that came in with the bay water, then harvested. Most of the corporate salt ponds have been sold back to local public entities that are slowly returning them as once was.
This large salt flat is in a public space on the pennisula near Meno Park.
