This is my first iris to bloom this season. This photo was taken 4 days ago. You ask...what is that white stuff in the background? Yes...it is what it looks like...SNOW!! We hopefully had our last spring snowstorm of the season, 8 in of very wet, heavy snow. The roads were warm so it was mostly on the grass, but it was blowing like crazy. By the end of the next day, it was mostly gone (with a temperature in the 50's). I am counting on this to be the last snow as I have just bought geraniums to plant! Thank you for viewing and putting yesterday's photo on the PP. I so appreciate your views, comments, and faves!!
@gijsje They always say here, "You can plant safely after Mother's Day (2nd Sunday in May). This year it wasn't the case! We do occasionally get snow this late but not always. We had a really mild winter with very little snow so even though we are all ready for the snow to be gone, we really needed the moisture to prevent forest fires this summer. We do have strange changeable weather ...that's for sure! :)
Recognized the white stuff - have a friend out there north of Denver who posted a shot the other day - my response was it was 88 here! Didn't seem to bother your iris though.
Here we are supposed to plant safely after Ice saints of Frost saints (11-15 May); that's about the same date, but mostly we plant earlier...
