Not the greatest photo through all the glass, but I like it because it is the last time I will see my son for the next 4 1/2 months while he is working in Antarctica. Goes with the previous photo! Sometimes I just like to put in "our life" photos. He's good about emailing when he can and is able to call on a satellite phone every so often. He loves his work so I am very excited for him.
@lynnz@cathieg@777margo@milaniet@janeandcharlie@yaorenliu@dizzyd@gijsje@ribbet9@kathiecb@lesip Thank you all so much for your warm and kind comments! He packs lots of really warm clothes. Sometimes he is at McMurdo Station other times he is out in the field sleeping in a tent. The mess tent is heated but the sleeping tents are not. We looked up today's temperature and it was 16 deg F. It is just the beginning of summer. Later in summer it may get as high as 40 deg F. When he travels to Greenland sometimes it gets colder.
Lots of mixed emotions I'm sure. Hope you son enjoys the experience
