This was at the celebration of a festival called Janmashtami.
Janmashtami, is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Krishna, an avatar of the god Vishnu. Dahi Handi celebrate God's playful and mischievous side, where teams of young men form human pyramids to reach a high-hanging pot of butter and break it.
It was very difficult to get this shot, as it was very dark and many people were surrounding me. I tried using flash but continuous shooting was not possible as the flash was not recycling fast enough. I put my camera to the highest possible ISO (3200) but the shutter speed still very low, but i just continued shooting and after taking some 30-40 shots this was the only shot which turned out OK looking!
I've seen (been too) this kind of festival and the movement is so intense that I am surprised you were able to get such an amazing shot! Seriously great capture. You are very talented.
This is incredible, you really captured the energy here. Not an easy task, I'm sure. I don't think I would have even bothered to even try. I would have expected a lot more noise with that ISO.
