These dot the countryside in farmers fields in Belgium in the area I generally bike. It is a pillbox left over from WWII, you are looking at the back entry door, inside opposite the door there is a small port like window to look out and mount a machine gun.
The pillbox is looking at Germany, that hill in the background is the border between belgium and Germany. Also you can see the Beusdal castle in the middle background as well (this is near Sippenaeken, Belgium) . This castle was built in the 8th century, and added on in the 16th, 17th, and 19th centuries. It is a really beautiful little castle with a small moat and everything.
Again I am really into RAW processing lately, I upped the saturation on the green grass and darkened the sky a bit. Thus this image is as close a redition as I saw with my eyes when I was there. I am growing increasingly dissatisfied with my old clunky 350D and the really weak colors that come out of it, and am anxiously awaiting news on the release of the new 60D from Canon. I am sure that will be my new baby when it comes out.
I admit I took this yesterday, but I have spent most of the day today editing shots from my bike ride yesterday where I took my SLR along, so I'm very excited about some of these shots and calling it good for today.
Steve, the ficticious town of Haven, Maine is being filmed in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, so the UNESCO site is here in Canada. We're summer residents from So Calif so we chuckle at the amount of movie making around here that we never run into at home! I think it's more cost effective to film across this border.
