Mags asked me yesterday how to create an abstract from a photo of bushes. Of course you can do wonders in PS but I use LR on a daily basis and here I tried to figure something out. These are my two suggestions. I am posting the original unedited below. First, I changed the WB to something completely unreal. We have two sliders (temp and tint) and I can play with them until the effect is satisfactory. The rest is fun with HSL sliders.
I have been interested in photography all my life and remember quite well developing my first black and white films myself... My favorite subjects are...
Mags @marlboromaam I hope that explains it. I don't know what editing program you have but after your composites I think you know a lot about it. Don't be afraid to experiment and try to go a step further than others. Be curious. Have a nice journey into the world of abstraction.
Especially in photography abstract tends to be a personal interpretation rather than a set of defined rules. We had a abstract competition at my photography club a few years ago that resulted in many heated discussions.
I have a number of free and purchased presets that I often use in LR. I agree it's not as easy to use for abstract and very creative looks as PS, but can really get some nice images that way.
