Over the last few years, my neighborhood has changed beyond recognition. The old factories were replaced by an entire office district with expensive apartment buildings. In this place had been factory of lighting lamps in the nineteenth century. Fragments of the old production hall have been integrated into modern skyscrapers. Unfortunately, cars pollute this sight a bit, and there is a prohibition sign!
I have been interested in photography all my life and remember quite well developing my first black and white films myself... My favorite subjects are...
I love how old factories get repurposed into modern apartments and/or shops. Especially when they keep some of the original features. Here in our village, they have just finished renovating the old school, making it into apartments. They have kept the old school bell inside the hallway. I've not yet seen inside, but I hear it's quite lovely.
You live in a city so the cars and signs are a given and actually unnoticed at first by me because I was looking at the buildings and wondering what the meaning of the word FRAC was. I do like the "crown" of grasses the FRAC building wears and the tall buildings behind.
It looks like you live in a neighborhood where you get the best of new and old. It's funny, like Kathy, I did not really notice the cars or signs at first. I was too busy looking at the way they repurposed the old building and its beautiful brickwork over the windows.
