Constructive criticism very much appreciated - keen to learn more and improve. I bought a decent camera in February 2016 and joyed this wonderful space...
There is so much in this. Such a wonderful place to be. Love your Thames pleasure boat making its way out of your scene and on to the 'next thing.' and the threatening sky.
such a familiar sight - but I do not get tired of shooting it (apart from the hideaous "walkietalkie' building) you had a great vanatge point - I think this coul dbe even better with a little more processing
@handymaurice Thanks. I really appreciate your suggestions. Do you mind me asking (for when I do get LR and start playing): what sort of processing does this shot need? Would it be sharpening?
@helenm2016 For me - and because of the kind of the natural light at the time of the shot - the photo appears a little "flat" - you are therefore looking at contrast (balance between light and shadows) in particular - then refinemets such as sharpenng etc. I took a look at a number of you tube videos - I personally liked those by Anthony Morganti for Lightroom - as these were simple and built up skill bit by bit - but I am sure there are many others as good if not better and I follow a set series of adjustments - starting with highlights, shadows, then blacks, whites, contrasts, exposure etc, you will find your standard practice and slowly add in more refinements
@helenm2016 ....another thought is the photo file - looking at your Exif info the file size looks small and therefore I assume you are recording as Jpeg - while this will allow some processing opportunity, by capturing as RAW there is so much more data available to you to manipulate post shooting - the file sizes will increase significantly but you will have very much more flexibility post shot
@handymaurice Hi Haydn. I really appreciate this comment as hadn't noticed before you pointed it out how passing a file through my freeware reduces the file size. A jpeg posted straight from the camera is about 4 Mb but one edited in the freeware can be under 1 Mb
