M

This is my aunt whom I love dearly. She and my dad were first cousins but grew up like siblings and were very close (my dad's only sister didn't survive childhood).

There's a sense in which we each provide for the other a link to my dad who died seven years ago: for me, knowing how close my dad and she were is wonderful; and she often tells me my mannerisms are like my dad.
Very nice portrait! I like that she is not looking at you. Like it in B&W which seems to give more detail to her face. It is very nice that you both share that link!

Smashing portrait! For me the b&w gives the photo an air of dignity and grace.

@thewatersphotos @bill_fe @yaorenliu @karens54 @onewing Really appreciate your perspectives on this portrait attempt. I'd like to take more portraits and get better at them. Am wondering about trying the 100 stranger portraits than another 365-er mentioned a few months back. Bit of a scary prospect though!

This is an excellent portrait. Such a thoughtful and pleasing expression on your Aunt's face and lovely detail.
