This is my classmate from the evening course I've been doing who kindly agreed to having her portrait posted up on 365. I have really enjoyed having a go at taking portraits - hope to find some opportunities to do more.

and having just seen the portrait awards at the national, i can add that i like the way your subject is not face on, you have caught her in motion, e.g. her hands, which brings the photo to life, and i also like the plain and contrasting (black) background.

@ruthtoby It was very inspiring to see all the portraits today. A surprisingly large number were taken face on. It seems (to me) harder to get a good result like that.
