Went to the exhibition "Monochrome" at the National Gallery today and thoroughly recommend it. The pièce de resistance is the final immersive work by Olafur Eliasson which is a room lit entirely by monochrome sodium lamps. This lighting has the effect of obliterating colour so that everything in the room looks as if in monochrome.
This image is SOOC with no processing whatsoever, taken using auto white balance on the camera. Interestingly, when viewed on the back of the camera while in the room, this image was various shades of pink.
I got chatting to a group of photographers much more technically knowledgeable than I am. They guessed at the colour temperature of the lights and, sure enough, when I set the custom WB to 2800 the image in the back of the camera looked more or less as if black and white. All very fascinating. I'm intrigued by colour temperatures and WB now.
Constructive criticism very much appreciated - keen to learn more and improve. I bought a decent camera in February 2016 and joyed this wonderful space...
@helenhall I think I was rambling! Please ignore. @yaorenliu We are very lucky. @jamibann If you are in London, worth a look. @lisammcloskey So much to learn. Never-ending I suspect.
