I spotted this heron in the river on my way to do some shopping today. I only had my tiny Panasonic GM5 with a 12-32mm lens with me but I also had the 35-100mm in my shoulder bag. Herons are usually very weary if you stop and look at them for too long and they quickly take off to find a "safer" spot. This one was in no hurry to leave though. It sat still while I changed lenses and and although he kept track of what I was doing I was able to slowly inch my way closer and closer.....
He was still in the same spot when I came back with my groceries so I stopped and took a few more shots. This one is one of the first I shot and the only one where he has his beak open.
Very accommodating of him to pose for you. I often find that even if I have a dozen or more shots of a subject the one I end up using is one of the first ones I took.
