When we left on our journeys to go to the two nephews weddings this month, it was just after Hurricane Irene had visited New Jersey and their was a detour we had to make. Since it was an area prone to floods, I thought it would be ok once we came home. It turns out that it was not flooding, but the undermining of the road next to the bridge. For the next year or so this will cost us about a five mile detour. Thanks Irene

@pwallis Thank you Paula, just a wee bit @webfoot Thank you Paul, but at least no one was hurt @afronaut Thank you Leon, it will be different, but this way was quieter
@nahdude83 Thank you Edmund, after I saw the detour sign - which is a half-mile away - I knew I had to come back, walk in and see why @tralo29 Thank you Tracey, it was surprising that it had created it along side the bridge @netkonnexion Thank you, I am not a happy camper about it
Great shot showing the damage to the road. We've had a wild year. There has been storm, fire, flood, drought, heat and every kind of damage you can imagine in all part of the US.
